Gah, weight is up slightly. Don't know what happened. Well. That's not QUITE true. Making banana bread = terrible mistake. Also didn't run today even though it's a run day, because Jim was up thirty times last night and Noah let me sleep in. On the up side, we did CC instead, and it went pretty well today. I moved on to the next level of leg raises, and increased the number of horizontal pulls I can do. Afterwards Noah and I tried uneven pushups to see what they were like, and HOLY SHIT I DID ONE. Like a real one, no kneeling, no fudging, no bending. An actual uneven pushup. We won't get to those in the actual progression for probably two months, so I know I'll be much stronger then, but it is AMAZING to know that I can actually do that now, even if it was quite a strain.
Me:
1 x 20 knee tucks (warmup)
3 x 35 flat knee raises (not too bad)
1 x 20 vertical pullups (warmup)
1 x 15 and 2 x 12 horizontal pullups (chest-height, and haaaaard)
Noah:
1 x 20 knee tucks
1 x 15 flat knee raises
3 x 30 flat bent leg raises
1 x 20 vertical pullups
1 x 25 and 2 x 20 horizontal pullups

Easiest run ever (144.6)
Ran the same as last time (.85 mile run, .15 mile walk, repeat). FREEZING this morning - 30ish, maybe. Ran pretty slow but not horrifically slow, was able to maintain a conversation with Noah the whole way. Felt good, man. Next time we'll be running .85 miles, walking .15, then running 1 mile. Should be easy.
PS - Pleasantly sore (esp. in chest and hips) from CC yesterday. I love DOMS.

CC #5 (143.6)
Kind of a funny workout. We ended up doing more squats than planned because I was trying to help Noah fix his form. Poor dude can't stay balanced at all at the bottom. It's nice to know I'm better than him at one of these things, yes?
Me:
Wall push-ups 1 x 20 (warm-up)
Incline push-ups 3 x 20 (RARRRR SO STRONG)
Jack-knife squats 3 x 30 (mommmmmmy *whimper*)
Noah:
Wall push-ups 1 x 20
Incline push-ups 1 x 15
Kneeling push-ups 1 x 35, 1 x 28, 1 x 30
Jack-knife squats 1 x 15
Supported squats 1 x 20, 1 x 35, 1 x 20

More running in the fog. (143.6)
Another run today, just as foggy as last time but not so muddy. For some reason my legs felt absolutely DEAD at the beginning of it. They were better at the end, but still not quite up to par, so it was a pretty slow run.

Yay, back to running! (144.2)
The track was a bit muddy this morning (and COVERED with fog - seriously, visibility was about 10 feet, but it looked pretty cool with trees and stuff coming out of the mist), but we ran anyway. Noah was a bit of a bastard and made me push the stroller for a third of it while he ran up ahead and came back. That thing is HEAVY in the mud. We did manage to add a little bit to our run despite the muck, though. The 2-mile track has two long sides (about .75 miles each) and two short sides (.25 each). Last week we ran the long sides and walked the short sides, so this week we ran the long sides and half of each short side.
Run: .85 miles
Walk: .15 miles
Run: .85 miles
Walk: .15 miles
Next week we'll probably continue with that, and the week after just push through and run the whole 2 miles.

CC #4 (144.8)
The past few days have been pretty crappy as far as workouts are concerned. Jim the Baby Dictator is teething hard, so he's been needing constant attention. It has rained every day for the past 3-4 days, so running has been out (we run on a dirt track, and the jogging stroller can't handle it if it's muddy). Plus, Noah has had to be at work an extra two hours a day, so scheduling everything is just tougher.
Sigh.
Anyway, we finally got to move in with the convict conditioning today. Here's what we did:
Me:
3 x 40 knee tucks (burny, but not too tough)
1 x 20 doorway pullups (warm-up)
1 x 6 horizontal pull-ups with the bar about chest-height
2 x 10 horizontal pull-ups w/ same bar (they were MUCH easier after I figured out where my feet should go)
Noah:
1 x 20 knee tucks (warm-up)
3 x 35 flat knee raise
1 x 20 doorway pull-ups (warm-up)
3 x 20 horizontal pull-ups
Sigh.

Run. (145.8)
I always like running on base when there are groups doing PT. It's fun to listen to the cadence and I enjoy not being yelled at by the scary drill sergeant guys. It sometimes leads to running a bit too fast, particularly when Noah gets it in his head to race the groups, like during the first half of this morning's run. Also, today there was a group drilling with rifles and we ran right down the middle of them, pushing a stroller with a baby in a teddy bear suit. It was kind of funny.

CC Day Two (145.8)
Pull-up level 1: doorway pull-ups 3 x 40 (Noah did same)
Leg raises level 1: knee tucks 3 x 30 (Noah got 3 x 40, damn him)
The doorway pulls were reeeeally easy, but using the door frame hurts the fingers. Glad we can both move up next week, but not looking forward to level two - it's VERY hard. We don't have anything at the correct level/sturdiness, so we're going to have to get some kind of adjustable pull-up bar. The knee tucks were actually pretty hard for me, but more in the quads than the abs. I'm going to repeat them at the next workout.

Run! (146.0)
Got to run today for the first time since Noah's Christmas leave. We took it pretty easy, since it had been a couple weeks, and it went quite well. We ran 3/4 mile, walked 1/4 mile, ran another 3/4 mile, and then walked the last 1/4. The first 3/4 was pretty fast (for me), about a ten minute mile, I'd say. The second was verrrrrry slow, more of a quickish shuffle, really. But hey, I'm pretty pleased with myself for getting up at fucking 6am to go run in freezing weather. Well done, self.
Oh, also, we now have a workout plan. Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings are for running. Monday morning and Wednesday and Friday evenings we'll do Convict Conditioning, alternating between workout A (pushups and squats) and workout B (hanging leg raises and pullups). I'm excited. I may try to do some zumba or P90 videos here and there to get a bit of extra cardio, if I'm in the mood, but I'm not going to push it too much.

Last night's workout (146.8)
We started doing Convict Conditioning last night. Yeah, I know, dumb name, but it's a pretty good program. Basically, it starts you off with very simple versions of scary exercises and puts you through a progression that has you eventually doing the hard version. Last night we started on the push-up progression (last step: one-arm push-up) and the squat progression (last step: pistol squats). We started with Level One of the push-ups, wall push-ups. These were, of course, much easier for Noah than for me. We both managed the full number needed to move up, though, so we can do Level Two next time. We skipped Level One of the squats (shoulderstand squats) because I couldn't balance on my back like that. Level Two (jack-knife squats) were pretty hard. I did about half the progression standard, so I'll be doing them until I manage to do the full amount. Noah did the full number, but he's got some form/flexibility issues to work on, so he's planning on repeating them next time.
Numbers:
Wall push-ups 3 x 50
Jack-knife squats 3 x 20

Well, hello there. (147.4)
Why yes, blog, it HAS been forever since I posted to you. I sincerely apologize; I have been extremely remiss in my duties. Let me give you a short recap of the last couple months: I held between 140-144 for about two months, and then holidays happened. I stopped keeping track through December, and just started again a couple days ago, and I've been 146-147 for the last few days.
So, let's call that a five pound gain, and let's also call that unfortunate but not TOO bad. It's nothing I can't take off with a good month's work, so that's something, anyway. Going forward, I plan to use this blog as more of a workout log, so hopefully that'll keep me posting slightly more often, just for posterity. In any case, I seem to lose weight better when I babble about it regularly, so that alone ought to be motivation to keep this place active.
